How to Obtain Equivalency for a Foreign Diploma

(European Union and non-European Union)?

When enrolling in the first year of a Bachelor’s program, if you hold a secondary education diploma obtained abroad, you must submit a diploma equivalency request to the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles.
All relevant information is available on the website: www.equivalences.cfwb.be

Important Notes

  • Documents for the Equivalency Service must always be sent by post. The service does not process applications electronically.

  • Do not underestimate the complexity of this process: translation of documents by a certified translator, submission of some original documents, submission of other documents as certified copies, etc. Begin gathering all necessary documents and translations as early as possible, especially if you plan to request equivalency after completing the admission process.

  • Equivalency requests close on July 15.
If your admission exam occurs after this date and you wish to wait until then to submit your equivalency request, you will only have five working days from the date of our official admission letter to send your dossier. For this reason, we strongly recommend submitting the dossier before July 15.

  • Equivalency dossiers are subject to very strict procedures. In previous years, many requests were refused for reasons that may seem minor (e.g., slightly missed deadlines, failure to comply with rules for sending original documents, or incorrect submission procedures).

Key Recommendations

Be extremely attentive and follow every requirement set by the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles precisely.
