Douglas Becker
Based in Brussels, Douglas Becker is an independent choreographer and educator versed in numerous movement languages.
A former dancer with the Joffrey Ballet New York, the National Ballet of Canada, the Dallas Ballet, and the Frankfurt Ballet under the direction of William Forsythe, he has restaged many of Forsythe's works for companies, festivals, and institutions worldwide.
He has extensive experience teaching ballet, improvisation, composition, and repertoire.
Becker has also been a guest professor at P.A.R.T.S. in Brussels (since 1997), New York University, the University of California at Irvine, and the National Conservatories in Paris, Lyon, and elsewhere.
In his collaborative approach to choreographic creation, he draws on the personal talents and unique characteristics of his dancers, improvising based on these qualities.
