Anouck Llaurens
Anouk Llaurens is a dancer, researcher, dance/artistic practice teacher, and shiatsu practitioner. She graduated from the Centre National de Danse Contemporaine (CNDC) in Angers in 1992. She pursued a career as a contemporary dancer with companies such as Michèle Anne De Mey, Yolanda Snaith, and Tony Thatcher. Later, she created solo pieces like "Room" by Deborah Hay in 2005 and "Hélium" with the support of Charleroi danse in 2008.
Since 1998, after encountering Lisa Nelson's Tuning Scores, Anouk has been engaged in attentional practices, considering improvisation as both a form of writing and an independent artistic field. From 2005 to 2009, she assisted Nita Little, a pioneer of Contact Improvisation, and has been teaching Contact Improvisation and improvisation since 2003 through weekly classes and workshops.
Her teaching focuses on sensory perception and often takes the form of shared explorations with participants. Anouk is interested in the notion of "experience as document" and develops poetic documents in the form of performances and participatory practices. She teaches improvisation at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp and in various dance and visual arts programs across Europe. She has contributed to the online publication "Mind the Dance" and collaborates with Belgian artist Julien Bruneau. She resides in Brussels.
